Unusual church clock

The clock, situated in the clock room high in the tower, is dated 1841 and signed I & T Wilkinson & W Groves of Leeds. What makes the clock unusual is that it uses only one train to strike the hours and chime the quarter hours.
The only other known clock with a similar mechanism is in Pocklington Parish Church, East Yorkshire. This clock being signed Brown of Selby.
The hour is struck using the main bell in the belfry immediately above the clock room in the tower. This bell was cast in 1838, and than recast in 1918. The quarter hour is chimed with the assistance of the smaller bell.
The clock was fully restored in 2004. At this time the manual 7 day winding system was replaced with an automatic winder. The stone weights that would have been wound to the top of the

spire have been retained in the belfry. At this time a night silencer was also added so to aid the sleep of those in hearing distance of the church.
